Billy Joel will return to New Orleans for a concert at the Smoothie King Center on Friday, February 10. The performance will mark the singer, songwriter and composer’s first solo arena show in the Crescent City since 2007.
Joel last performed in New Orleans in 2013 when he headlined the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with a packed, hits-filled set. His 2008 show at Jazz Fest, on the other hand, ended early during one of the worst downpours the fest has ever seen (fortunately, that will not be an issue in the Smoothie King Center).
“We are thrilled to welcome Billy Joel back to New Orleans,” said Alan Freeman, SMG General Manager of the Smoothie King Center. “We understand he will be playing only a handful of indoor arena dates in the U.S. during 2017. Billy’s music legacy speaks for itself, and we are grateful he has chosen New Orleans as one of the select cities he will be performing in next year.”
Joel—a six-time Grammy Award-winner—is one the most popular recording artists of all-time. Over the course of the past five decades, he has sold over 150 million records, making him the third best-selling solo artist in history.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale at 10am on Friday, November 18 via Ticketmaster. American Express card members will be able to purchase tickets before the general public from 10am on Monday, November 14 through 10pm on Thursday, November 17.
