Big Sam’s Funky Nation will host their annual Christmas Jam at Tipitina’s this Friday, December 9. The New Orleans funk rock outfit will be supported by singer Robin Barnes, who is scheduled to open the show.

The Christmas Jam will close out a whirlwind year for Big Sam’s Funky Nation that included a number of national tours, as well as the unfortunate theft of their instruments in Las Vegas (a Go Fund Me campaign was launched to help them replace their stolen property). The group has been on the road in support of their 2015 album Feet on the Floor, and has been preparing new music for release in the spring of 2017.

Past editions of the Big Sam’s Christmas Jam have featured guest appearances from a variety of local artists, and this year is shaping up to be no different.

“I’m super excited about our Xmas Jam at Tips,” says Big Sam. “I have a few friends coming out to bring the funk with us, too. It’s definitely gonna be a night to remember. Oh yea, I’ll be super clean like Rufus Thomas. See y’all there!”

Tickets for the Christmas Jam are now on sale. Doors open at 9pm, and the show will begin at 10pm.
