Music lovers at next week’s Bonnaroo Music Festival will get a few chances to learn the art of twerking when Big Freedia hosts a series of classes at the popular gathering.
The bounce music icon and reality TV star will team up with her crew of dancers and fitness guru Mark Berger for three “Twerk It Out!” classes on June 9-11. These classes will serve as introductions to twerking, as well as morning workouts aimed at getting people warmed up for the day’s festivities.
Twerk It Out will take place at Bonnaroo’s Solar stage at 11am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The first half hour will focus on teaching and learning, and the second will give fans a chance to practice what they learned in front of an all-out show.
This year’s Bonnaroo is slated for June 8-11 and will feature headlining sets from U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper and more. New Orleans acts like Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Tank and the Bangas and Sweet Crude will also perform at the event. Tank and the Bangas will even take part in the festival’s famed “Superjam” show, where they will join Jon Batiste, George Porter Jr. and many more.
