It’s February 14 and you already know…
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Flow Tribe has dropped a special remix to their song “Diamond.” Big Freedia The Queen Diva sprinkled “her goodness over the track,” which Flow Tribe’s K.C. O’Rorke says is for “everyone out there sharing the love with others or who just want to get turnt by themselves.”
With help from KC The Producer, the remix sports a hefty bounce sound. K.C. says it was the group’s guitarist, Bryan Santos, who suggested remixing the BOSS single. Freedia was, of course, the obvious choice. “Over the years we’ve had the pleasure to work with everybody from Allen Toussaint to Mannie Fresh,” says O’Rorke, “so getting the opportunity to work with Freedia was another one of those milestone moments.”
Since Freedia used Flow Tribe’s Downman Sounds studio to rehearse for last year’s Jazz Fest, Flow Tribe has had a flourishing relationship with the bounce icon. “Once we heard Freedia’s first take [on the remix to “Diamond”] we were so stoked. It all just came together perfectly. Releasing the song on Valentine’s Day is a great way to share the love with our fans and most importantly get people to shake that ass.”
When O’Rorke was asked what his personal favorite Valentine’s Day anecdote is, he came up with something out of a New Orleans love story. “My favorite Valentine’s story is when I was 12. I had gotten my girlfriend at the time a gold necklace (only the finest Herringbone from Spencer Gifts) and she got me a copy of Master P’s Ghetto D. True love showed up too early. Bummed I let that one get away.”
