New Orleans bounce star Big Freedia will be backed by a live band when she embarks on a fall tour from October 12 to 23.
New Orleans soul-jazz outfit Tank & The Bangas will open each night, then stick around to perform during Big Freedia’s show. The tour will swing through much of the Eastern Seaboard, with stops in Birmingham, Nashville, Atlanta, Richmond, Philadelphia, DC, Asbury Park, NJ, Brooklyn and Boston.
“Tank and the Bangas are the perfect group to tour with,” notes Big Freedia. “With their Jazz, rock and spoken word inspired performances, they are an amazing compliment to my show.”
Big Freedia also revealed that she plans to drop her second full length LP, Pressing Onward, in early 2017.
The New Orleans bounce icon’s fall tour comes on the heels of a newsworthy summer that saw Big Freedia sentenced to three years probation for illegally receiving Section 8 housing vouchers. Yet it wasn’t all bad news for Big Freedia, who celebrated the fifth season of her Fuse reality television show, Queen of Bounce.
