The final month of 2017 in New Orleans will bring some of the city’s most gifted guitarists onto one stage for the Big Easy Guitar Fest. Tommy Malone, Jimmy Robinson, Twangorama, The New Orleans Guitar Masters, Phil deGruy, John Rankin, Cranston Clements, Tyler Clements, Chip Wilson and Paul Clement are confirmed performers for the Friday, December 1 festival.
Organized by Jimmy Robinson, the Big Easy Guitar Festival will showcase solo pieces from the all-star cast of players, as well as duos, trios and more collaborative performances. Robinson tells OffBeat.com the audience can also expect “a few blockbuster ensemble pieces for the entire crew, lots of original compositions and interesting covers of the whole smorgasbord of jazz, rock, blues, celtic, country, NOLA r&b, classical and more.” Robinson says he was inspired to put together this event because he’s “always looking for interesting ideas to present new music and draw a crowd.”
The Big Easy Guitar Fest takes place at the New Orleans Jazz Museum’s Music at the Mint theater, which Robinson calls “one of the best theater’s I’ve ever played.”
Tickets for The Big Easy Guitar Festival are $15.75 and available at the door (cash) or online here. Doors open at 7:30p.m. and the evening will end at 10p.m.
