New Orleans-born NEA Jazz Master and architect of “Nouveau Swing,” Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr., is set to host the inaugural Quantum Leap Music Festival, a three-day event from September 13 to 15, 2024, at the historic Castello di Borghese Vineyard & Winery in Cutchogue, Long Island. Partnering with the independent production team NOLA2NOFO, LLC, Harrison aims to bring the soul of New Orleans to the North, offering a dynamic blend of music, food and culture.
The festival promises a diverse lineup of more than two dozen award-winning New Orleans musicians curated through the artistic lens of Donald Harrison Jr. Guests can enjoy live performances while sampling local artisanal wines, beers, seafood and barbecue in the picturesque setting of Long Island’s oldest vineyard.
“At the inaugural Quantum Leap Music Festival, NOLA 2 NOFO and I will present a wide stylistic range of New Orleans’ greatest musical artists in their respective styles,” says Festival Artistic Director, Big Chief Donald Harrison, Jr., “This festival has something for everyone and will expose styles of music you may not have heard before, but you will leave loving.”
Each day of the festival will feature a unique musical theme. Friday, September 13th, will kick off with a jazz, blues, funk, and soul-infused hip-hop party featuring performances by Cyril Neville with members of The Headhunters featuring Bill Summers, Donald Harrison Jr, Kyle Roussel, and surprise guests Donald Harrison Jr’s ICONS featuring Tonya Boyd-Cannon, Deezle, Choppa, Blaq-N-Mild, Big Chief Brian. Saturday will focus on traditional and modern jazz, with appearances by Harrison’s Omniverse project, the Preservation Hall Legacy Band, and more. The festival will conclude on Sunday with a celebration of zydeco and Cajun music, featuring acts like C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band and Sonny Landreth.
