Grammy winner Beyoncé paid tribute to the late Tina Turner earlier this week: On Monday, May 29, Beyoncé took the stage in north London, where she honored the music legend by singing her rendition of “River Deep – Mountain High.”
Beyoncé, who is currently on her Renaissance World Tour, which will stop in New Orleans on September 27, urged fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to sing along loudly so that their love could be felt throughout the room. Beyoncé has always admired Turner and has made this apparent by covering her songs in the past and even performing with her at the 2008 Grammy Awards. Beyoncé shared a heartfelt message on her website upon hearing of her idol’s death: “I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way. You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion. We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done.”
Tina Turner tragically passed away on May 24, at 83, in Küsnacht, Switzerland due to natural causes. While Turner may no longer be with us, she has left a legacy with her music and personal strength and character that will last forever.
