Best of the Beat: On Schedule and On TV

[Updated] The Best of the Beat takes place Friday night at Generations Hall, and we now have a final schedule for the night. We’ll have music on two stages, and bands will play 45 minute sets.

 

Front Room

6 p.m. – Aurora Nealand and the Royal Roses

7 p.m. – Glen David Andrews

9:45 p.m. – Lost Bayou Ramblers

10:45 p.m. – Big Freedia

Back Room

7:15 p.m. – the Soul Rebels

8 p.m. – The Awards Ceremony

9:30 p.m. – GIVERS

10:30 p.m. – George Porter & His Runnin’ Pardners and Friends

Tickets are on sale now for $30, $35 the day of the show.

This year, WVUE’s Liz Reyes and Rob Masson will host the Awards Presentation with OffBeat Publisher Jan Ramsey, and the station will have a week of Best of the Beat-oriented programming. This morning on the Fox 8 Morning News, Masson interviewed Ramsey about the history of the Best of the Beat. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the week:

Tuesday: Heartbeat Award honoree Mary Howell

Wednesday: Lifetime Achievement in Music Education honoree John Rankin, who’ll also perform.

Thursday: Lifetime Achievement in Music Business honoree Scott Billington, with a performance by Aurora Nealand and the Royal Roses

Friday: Lifetime Achievement in Music honoree George Porter, Jr., with a performance by the Soul Rebels.

All interviews and performances will take place in the 8 o’clock hour.
