Best of the Bayou Festival returns to downtown Houma this weekend

The Best of the Bayou Festival, Houma’s free two-day music and heritage event, is coming up this weekend with music and more. For its fifth year, the festival’s two Main Street stages will feature 19 acts and plenty of local food and artwork.

The festival runs on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25 and includes several family-friendly activities to accompany the sounds of the Bayou.

Headliners will include The Revivalists, Grammy Award-winning Wayne Toups, zydeco’s Terrance Simien, local Baby Bee and Mississippi troubadour Paul Thorn. Other local artists range from Brass-a-holics to The Band Courtbouillon to Creole String Beans. To see the full range of artists, visit our news article on their lineup release.

The festival will also feature a classic car show from The Cajun Corvette Club; a Glow 5k run/walk, which is a 5K with a twist that will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday; the Great Gator Race, where hundreds of plastic gators will race toward the finish line on Sunday; local venders with food, artwork, and craftsmanship; and activities for children in The Kids Korner.

The Best of the Bayou Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
