This phrase is commonly known as the relationship death knell. In the music business, they use a more sophisticated term: “hiatus.”
On January 27, the Benjy Davis Project announced that they will go on hiatus in February. “After touring non-stop in 2010, the band is taking a much-needed break,” says a recent press release.
The release cited reasons like solo dates and song-writing. According to Davis, “Mic (Capdevielle) and I love working together. We’ve done a lot of talking and decided together that now would be a good time to go our separate ways for a while and get fresh perspectives.” Capdevielle and Davis, the central duo to the band, have played together since grade school.
The band is playing out a series of dates. Its final-for-now shows in the area are tonight’s at the Howlin’ Wolf and one Saturday, February 5 at the Louisiana Music Factory.
