Big Freedia, Katey Red, Cheeky Blakk and several other bounce and hip-hop artists will be performing tonight at Siberia to raise money for their trip to Austin for the 27th annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festival.
The show runs 10 p.m.-2 a.m., with tickets selling for $8 in advance (at www.siberianola.com) or $10 at the door. All proceeds go toward the artists’ travel expenses.
Also at Friday’s show will be Magnolia Rhome, Ha-Sizzle, JC Styles, Rusty Culotta, Diamond Dolls, and the Danger Boyz.
In addition to the hip-hop contingent, a number of other New Orleans acts are set for SXSW this year, including Generationals, the Revivalists, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Dash Rip Rock, Royal Teeth and more.
The South by Southwest Music Festival is one of the largest of its kind, with more than 2,000 performers from 50 countries. This year’s event happens March 12 – 17.
