In response to devastating flooding in Baton Rouge and South Louisiana, Raycom Media will host Louisiana Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Relief on Labor Day, September 5 from 7pm-9pm CST. The concert will be broadcast live on all Raycom Media stations, including Bounce TV, and will be hosted by Randy Jackson and Harry Connick Jr. Jackson, a Baton Rouge native, expressed his remorse and dedication to the community stating, “I want to help raise awareness and restore hope to people that are hurting in the place that I will always call home.” Similarly, Connick Jr. recalled painful memories “So sorry that my home state is undergoing such hardship once again” The star went on to say, “Seems like just yesterday that Katrina left a path of destruction. I hope that this benefit concert brings much needed attention to the good people of Louisiana.”
While the concert line-up is still being finalized, over a dozen musicians have already signed on including Better Than Ezra, Sonny Landreth, Chris Thomas King, MacKenzie Bourg, Luther Kent, and Rockin’ Dopsie. The concert is further bolstered by its music director Johnny Palazzotto, a well-known Baton Rouge impresario and 2011 winner of OffBeat Magazine’s Best of the Beat Music Business Award.
