The organizers of Beignet Fest announced today (October 5) the rescheduling of its second annual event, originally slated to take place this Saturday, October 7.
“With the support of New Orleans City Park and a host of food vendors, the 2nd Annual Beignet Fest will move to Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 10a.m.-6p.m,” festival organizers said in a press release. The decision comes after Mayor Landrieu’s office urged citizens to stay home this weekend due to a severe weather advisory stemming from Hurricane Nate, expected to arrive over the weekend. In addition to a consideration for the safety of folks traveling to the Fest, organizers say they “are also conscious of the increased strain on the police and fire departments that will now be focused on 24-hour hurricane preparation.”
Beignet Fest Founder and Event Producer Sherwood Collins added, “We urge everyone to follow the instructions from the Mayor’s office and stay home this weekend out of an abundance of caution, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the festival at City Park on December 2.”
Details regarding how this will affect the original music and food vendor lineup are pending.
