The 2nd Annual Beignet Fest will feature musical performances by Eric Lindell, Brass-a-Holics, One Love Brass Band, Imagination Movers and Hill Country Hounds when it takes over the Festival Grounds at City Park on Saturday, October 7.
The location marks a shift from last year’s inaugural event, which brought thousands of people to Lafayette Square. This year’s festival will accommodate more vendors and an estimated 15,000-20,000 attendees.
Additionally, Beignet Fest has announced a number of food vendors, though many more will be added in the coming months. Confirmed vendors include New Orleans Coffee & Beignet Co., The Ruby Slipper Cafe, The Howlin’ Wolf Den, Luca Eats, Cafe Beignet, Old School Eats, Girls Gone Vegan and Meribo Pizza.
“We are excited to celebrate our favorite New Orleans treat at the 2nd Annual Beignet Fest on October 7, which will be free and open to the public,” said festival founder and event producer Sherwood Collins. “The musical lineup is just the perfect amount of powdered sugar on top, with something for everyone.”
Collins and his wife Amy launched Beignet Fest and the Tres Doux Foundation with a mission to celebrate, embrace and enhance the lives of children with developmental delays and disabilities by presenting them as whole beings. Proceeds from the festival go to the Foundation, an organization that makes grants to nonprofits serving children with developmental delays.
Organizers have also unveiled the first Beignet Fest merchandise in partnership with the NOLA T-Shirt of the Month Club. festival. A portion of the proceeds from the merchandise sales will go towards the mission of the festival – to raise awareness and funds for autism programs in New Orleans. Last year’s festival raised more than $25,000 for four organizations in the city, including the YMCA of Greater New Orleans’ Brushes and Buddies.
