Beignet Fest, which announced its musical lineup earlier this year, will return on Saturday, September 23, bringing a menu of diverse beignets and entertainment to the Festival Grounds at City Park. The event, known for its family-friendly and inclusive atmosphere, aims to offer a day of beignets, performances, and support for charitable causes.
The festival’s menu will showcase a variety of beignet options, both traditional and innovative. Noteworthy selections include Sweet Legacy’s Bourbon Brisket Beignets, The Vintage NOLA’s Pear & Brie Beignets, as well as non-beignet choices like Chubbie’s Fried Chicken and Diva Dawg’s Crabmeat Grill Cheesy.
Beignet Fest Foundation’s executive director, Sherwood Collins, mentioned, “This year, our focus is on presenting a unique menu featuring beignets from vendors across the region, including neighboring states like Texas and Alabama. We are excited to offer an expanded range of food choices.”
The festival caters to culinary enthusiasts, featuring over 80 menu options and nearly 50 distinct beignet variations. Returning favorites such as Loretta’s Praline Beignet and Crabmeat Beignet will be joined by newcomers like vegan and gluten-free options, ice cream-stuffed beignets, Bananas Foster beignets, and creations like sweet potato cheesecake and espresso praline beignets from Ruby Slipper Café. PJ’s pizza beignets, exclusive to Beignet Fest, are also on the menu.
In addition to the food offerings, attendees can enjoy musical performances by Flagboy Giz and Flow Tribe, Black Magic Drumline, Imagination Movers, Mia Borders, and more. Shade tents, sweet treats like snoballs and huckabucks, and a complimentary parking shuttle will provide a comfortable experience.
Staying true to its mission, Beignet Fest collaborates with Children’s Hospital New Orleans to create a sensory-friendly Kid’s Village. Dr. Koren Boggs from The Autism Center at Children’s Hospital New Orleans emphasized, “The Kids Village provides an opportunity for all families, especially those facing challenges, to enjoy Beignet Fest.”
Beignet Fest’s impact extends to local nonprofits supporting children on the autism spectrum. General admission tickets are priced at $20 in advance, with free entry for children under 12. VIP tickets, offering additional benefits, are available for $50. Ticket prices will increase on the day of the festival. For the whole menu and ticket details, visit Beignet Fest’s official website.
