Covington, LA-based producer Zack Villere has been quietly making laid-back, primarily instrumental tracks under the name Froyo Ma for a few years now. However, these days he’s changing things up a bit by stepping to the mic and putting out music under his given name. Villere’s full length debut, Little World, is due out next month, and the first taste of the album could not be more satisfying.
With his newly released track, “Cool,” Villere tackles the extremely relatable life experiences of wondering if you’re cool, wishing you were cool and—ultimately—deciding you are cool. The track’s utterly smooth production and easygoing vibe are bolstered by an endearing music video that captures Villere riffing about his insecurities whilst nonchalantly embracing them. It’s fantastic stuff that few people would be cool enough to pull off.
The music video—Villere’s first—was filmed and edited by Ani Bharadwaj with animation from J’Von.
