The Beauregard-Keyes House (now rebranded as the “BK House“) will host a slew of cultural events in November. The first event begins November 13 with a Courtyard Concert, featuring trumpeter/vocalist Glen David Andrews on Sunday, November 13. Concertgoers will take a journey through a unique blend of New Orleans culture with music ranging from jazz to rock to funk. Although some refreshments will be provided, this is a BYOB event and attendees are encouraged to bring extra cups and bottle openers. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 (non-members) and $30 (members).
On Tuesday, November 15, the BK House presents Film Quest: A Screening and Musical Performance by members of Sweet Crude The short film is approximately 25 minutes long and is in French with English subtitles. After the film, a panel discussion will be hosted with Sam Craft, as well as a performance by members of his band Skyler Stroup and Alexis Marceau of Sweet Crude. Light refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., show starts at 6 p.m. in the Courtyard, weather permitting. Tickets are $10 (nonmembers) and $5 (members).
Thr immersive play, The Family Line will continue its run until November 20. Co-produced and presented by BK House and Goat in the Road, The Family Line is inspired by the histories of the Beauregard-Keyes House and the 1892 General Strike, a successful interracial organizing event that shut down New Orleans for days before the event won workers’ rights. Thursday performances are at 7:30, Friday features two shows at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee at 2:30 pm. All performances take place on the ground level of the courtyard and surrounding buildings. Tickets are $40.
All events occur at the Beauregard-Keyes House and Gardens at 1113 Chartres Street, across from the Old Ursuline Convent. General admission seating is offered, except for The Family Line.
