The people behind Florida’s Bear Creek Music Festival will host the inaugural Bear Creek Bayou Music Festival at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans on September 30 and October 1, 2016.

The original Bear Creek Music Festival called Live Oak, FL’s beautiful Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park home for eight years before it folded in 2015. The fest’s lineups were steeped in the tradition of New Orleans funk, but also featured a healthy dose of jamband, roots rock and electronic acts.

Organizers promise that the two-day Bear Creek Bayou Music Festival will continue that tradition in its new location, which just happens to be closer to the source of the funk music that formed the original fest’s foundation. Their chosen venue–Mardi Gras World–has become something of a festival hot spot in recent years, hosting the annual Buku Music + Project and the upcoming New Orleans edition of the Vans Warped Tour.

Few details for the Bear Creek Bayou Music Festival have been confirmed beyond the dates and venue, but the website, lineup and ticketing information are expected in the near future.
