The people behind the Lonestar Round Up vintage car show will bring their festival to one of the swampier parts of I-10 when the Bayou Round Up heads to the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette on Saturday, September 30.
For the third year in a row, the Austin-bred show thrown by The Kontinentals car club will drive itself over to cajun country to showcase hundreds of traditionally-styled American hot rods, bikes and custom cars from across the country, all made before 1963. Alongside the vintage machinery that may be older than their parents, or even their grandparents, spectators can enjoy local food and a variety of musical acts from both Louisiana and Texas.
Mystic Knights of The Sea, a band full of Austin artists such as Charlie Sexton, Denny Freeman, Mike Buck, Speedy Sparks and John X Reed will headline Bayou Roundup. They will be joined by special guests Lil’ Buck Sinegal, Tommy Mclain, Pat Breaux and CC Adcock, all members of Lil’ Band O’ Gold. Throughout the day Alligator Chomp Chomp will DJ between performances Zydeco Radio and Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble.
The festival will also feature a Swap Meet where vintage aficionados of all levels can shop for vintage auto parts, signs and collectables that may be hard to find in more mainstream, modern markets.
