The Baton Rouge Blues Foundation has officially canceled the 2020 Blues Festival.
The festival, which takes place in Downtown Baton Rouge, had scheduled performances by Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Sonny Landreth, Kenny Neal and others. “Our primary concern is the well-being, safety and health of our performers, attendees, vendors and volunteers. That’s what matters most at this point,” said Kim Neustrom, Executive Director of the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation and producer of this year’s festival.
The Baton Rouge Blues Foundation was founded in 2002 to preserve, promote, and propel the swamp blues and Baton Rouge blues culture. Besides the festival the Foundation also honors blues legends each year at its annual Blues Gala and preserves our local blues culture through music education in the schools and audio-visual archives.
The 2021 Blues Festival is set for April 17 and 18.
