For the sixth year running, Vaude d’Gras, presented by LadyBEAST Productions, returns to the Marigny Opera House with “Baroquen Circus: A Mardi Gras Spectacle” on February 21, 23 and 24.
“Featuring an eclectic entourage of the finest performing artists in the Crescent City,” this is a party onstage that spreads to the audience. This event could only be held during Carnival season, as it brings viewers through the history of the celebrations, while connecting with them in the present.
Witness “tantalizing and unique performances” by the multi-talented circus artist LadyBEAST, drag queen Franky Canga, cowboy clown Clay Mazing, contortionist Sam Aquatic and the fabulous burlesque dancer Gogo McGregor.
This is LadyBEAST’s triumphant return to the city after touring with the Lagunitas Beer Circus, being the featured talent at Comic-Con International for Ripley’s Believe It or Not, pulling off a Houdini-esque escape out of a straight jacket suspended 100 feet above the Burning Man Festival and giving a TED Talk at LSU. Her portfolio of acts includes aerial bartending and crossbow contortion, so you never know what you might see that you’ve never seen before.
Baroquen Circus is, at its heart, an immersive and truly decadent dinner party that features circus arts, stunts, vaudeville and sideshow performances. The classically trained Sarah Jacques and Stephen Neely will be performing the show’s score with their unique spin on works by the baroque masters.
The event takes place at the Marigny Opera House at 725 Saint Ferdinand Street.
Doors at 7:30 p.m. Show at 8:00 p.m. Tickets $20-$45. Costumes are encouraged! Click here for more info.
