This Thursday, May 23, Art Klub will showcase the results of its eight-week Kids Brass Jam course with a performance from students and The Preservation Hall All-Stars.
The Kids Brass Jam Showcase with the Preservation Hall All-Stars will be an opportunity for folks to see the work Art Klub does, in action. Located in the St. Roch neighborhood of New Orleans, Art Klub puts on a variety of multi- and cross-disciplinary art events every month, from body movement and dance, to spoken word, theater, music and film screenings. According to its website, the organization “is committed to offering a safe and inclusive space, cultivating creativity and engaging communities through artist residencies, performances, events, affordable rehearsal and meeting spaces, classes, workshops, and community programming for all ages.”
May 23’s event features the Kids Brass Jam Class, led by Clifford McPeek. Parents and members of the legendary Preservation Hall All-Stars will perform together between 6 and 8 p.m. The event takes place at the New Orleans Jazz Museum (400 Esplanade Ave.). Advance tickets are available here for $20, and will also be available at the door.
