Arcade Fire will present a pop-up concert at the Toulouse Theatre on Monday, March 14, as a fundraiser for aid to Ukrainians impacted by the Russian invasion. The band announced the last-minute show by way of social media posts at midnight. The admission is pay-what-you can and wristbands will be handed out at the door from 10 a.m. until sellout. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
All proceeds will be donated to the Plus 1 Ukraine Relief Fund. The Toulouse Theatre is located at 615 Toulouse Street in the French Quarter. Pianist Rickie Monie will open the show.
This will be Arcade Fire’s first full-band live show in more than 16 months. The last time the full band performed was a show at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in November of 2020. Earlier this month Arcade Fire sent cryptic postcards to fans with a musical notation as a teaser for a potential new album. It has been reported that the band recorded two or three albums during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Arcade Fire also has a new website that features a snippet of new music.
