Cellist and educator Dr. Jee Yeoun Ko has announced the annual Coats for Kids Concert at Gallier Hall. For over 25 years, community partners have collected, cleaned and donated over 75,000 coats for kids in the New Orleans area. The goal of the program is to the kids who need them the most stay warm through the holidays and beyond.
This annual event collects winter coats for children in need and offers attendees an evening of outstanding music from New Orleans’ most beloved performers. This year’s concert is a special collaboration of Coats for Kids musicians and prominent visual artists such as Ron Bechet, Marcus Brown, Alan Gerson, Deniss Parker, Ayo Scott, Frank Stewart, and many more. This event will be documented as a part of the Jazz and Heritage grant program.
The Coats for Kids concert begins at 7:00 p.m. November 17 at Gallier Hall. This year’s lineup includes the Ellis Marsalis Quartet, Faubourg Quartet, Xavier University’s Music Department, Dr. Ko, and many more.
Please bring a new or gently used coat of any size. The cost of the concert only is $25. The Patron’s Party art auction, which begins at 6 p.m., costs $100 admission. Tickets are available here.
