Anders Osborne, Nolatet Announce Intimate Event In Support Of Send Me A Friend

In January, OffBeat presented Anders Osborne with the Best of the Beat Heartbeat Award, in partnership with Positive Vibrations. The acclaimed musician earned this particular recognition for his philanthropic work, namely his Send Me A Friend Foundation. As Brett Milano wrote at the time, Osborne had one goal in mind when launching the Foundation in 2016: “He wanted musicians in recovery from substance addiction to continue working as musicians.”

On Friday, May 4, Send Me A Friend (SMAF) and Anders will present an evening of music to support the growing foundation’s work. Having amassed a national network of more than 1,500 volunteer “Friends” who provide on-call support to musicians and staff at gigs across the country, SMAF has provided tangible help to more than 50 music-industry professionals in the early stages of addiction recovery. The May 4 event, which takes place at John Bukaty’s Studio and Gallery (841 Carondelet St.), will feature Anders playing alongside Nolatet (comprised of Mike Dillon, James Singleton, Brian Haas and Johnny Vidacovich). The musicians’ debut collaboration will be an intimate live event. Only 100 seats are available, with proceeds from the $150 tickets (available here) directly benefiting  Send Me A Friend’s new headquarters, located in Uptown New Orleans at the Imagine Recovery facility.

Attendees will be treated to a sushi dinner by master chef Kimiaki Aoyama of San Francisco’s “Sushi Zone.” Plus, the event will serve as a celebration of both the newly-formed partnership between Send Me A Friend and Positive Vibrations Foundation and SMAF’s new mobile app. The app aims to better connect “Friends” with those seeking support.
