Anders Osborne has been added to the lineup for the 11th annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo. The blues-rock master will replace Buckwheat Zydeco, who have been forced to back out due to a wrist injury incurred by frontman Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural, Jr.
Buckwheat Zydeco was slated to perform on the Orleans Stage at 7pm on Sunday, May 22.
Osborne joins a bill that features The Wailers, Irma Thomas, Lowrider Band, George Porter Jr. and Runnin’ Pardners, the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Nolatet and many more. The free event will return to its home along the banks of Bayou St. John from May 20 to 22.
The Bayou Boogaloo has also revealed a few more details for the fest, including the addition of new food vendors Mopho and Brown Butter. They will join returning neighborhood vendors like Mid City Pizza, Ralph’s on the Park, Canal Street Bistro and Mona’s.
Additionally, the festival has that the Root Beer Float Float will make a comeback this year. The floating dock offers Root Beer Floats, as well as a place for attendees to relax over the water. Proceeds from the sale of root beer floats will go to supporting and maintaining the new Lafitte Grenway Bike and Pedestrian Path, which runs from Mid-City to Armstrong Park.
