Amy Schumer has downsized her New Year’s Eve celebration in New Orleans.
According to a post of the event’s Facebook page, the popular comedian’s December 31 stand-up show at the Smoothie King Center has been relocated to the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts. While the Smoothie King Center has a capacity of 17,000+ people, the Mahalia Jackson holds a more manageable 2,200+ people.
“The Amy Schumer show has been relocated to the Mahalia Jackson Theater at 1419 Basin St, New Orleans, LA 70116,” reads a post from Smoothie King Center. “The show will still take place on Saturday, December 31st at 8:00 PM. Doors open at 7:00 PM. All patrons who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will automatically be relocated and receive an email with new seat locations. Those who purchased directly from the venue must return their tickets to the Smoothie King Center for a refund. Please check the website below for updated information on an on-sale date for the new venue.”
On-sale times for tickets to the relocated show have not yet been confirmed.
Schumer’s venue change marks the latest change-of-plans for comedy shows in New Orleans. As previously reported, Adam Sandler, David Spade and Rob Schneider recently canceled their stand-up sets at the last minute, while Workaholics star Adam Devine also backed out on a show that was scheduled for February. Chris Rock, on the other hand, added two extra shows to his run at the Saenger Theatre due to overwhelming demand.
