Album Premiere: ROAR, “La-Di-Da”

Blissfully eclectic rock duo ROAR are premiering their debut album, La-Di-Da, via OffBeat today. Comprised of trombonist/vocalist Carly Meyers and drummer Adam Gertner (well, when you get down to it, both are really multi-instrumentalists), ROAR have been touring with their genre-defying sound for a couple of years now.

La-Di-DaLa-Di-Da was recorded straight to 2″ tape at Nashville’s Welcome to 1979 studios before being mixed at Next Gen Studios. The effort marks the first time that ROAR’s blend of enigmatic vocals, trombone riffs, infectious beats and electronic atmospherics has found its way onto a full album, and the final offering is as fun a trip as you’d expect.

La-Di-Da is the product of jumping off a cliff,” explains Meyers. “After meeting audio engineer Tim Craven in Nashville we had found the last piece of puzzle in making this album happen. He turned our plans into actions and dream into a reality. We have never been so proud of an album and can’t wait to release it to the world after so much blood, sweat and coffee.”

“The goal of this album was to capture our live sound and energy on tape,” adds Gertner. “We worked for months driving back and forth to Nashville’s Welcome to 1979 Studio to work with our producer Tim Craven. This record is everything we want to say about how we feel at this moment in time. We took a chance becoming a duo, and that fearlessness shows through on La-Di-Da.”

The new album is accompanied by a video for its lead single, “Orange Peaches.” Meyers and Gertner can be seen goofing off around New Orleans’ Audubon Park in the video, which also finds them spelling out the song’s lyrics with colorful sidewalk chalk.
