Winter Circle Productions is hosting “Action Pack’d for Jeff: A Night of Music and Charity” this Saturday at Maison in honor of co-worker and friend Jeff Milne, who passed away last week.
The free event begins at 10 p.m. at the music club on Frenchmen and will feature sets by some of the city’s top DJs including Jermaine Quiz, Quickie Mart, Fou-J, Dobryman, High Top Kicks, Paul B and Ryan Pearce. There will also be a silent auction, with proceeds going to benefit a yet-to-be determined charity in Jeff’s name.
In a gesture of solidarity, many members of the community have offered donations for the auction in Milne’s name, with items including a pair of tickets and bar tab for YelaWolf at Soul Kitchen in Mobile, a Stein’s Deli gift certificate, a $150 gift certificate to Coquette, and passes to live music events, including the 2013 BUKU Music + Arts Project, Camp Bisco, and Winter Circle Productions tickets of choice, among others.
Outside of his day job as a Clinical Research Coordinator in Tulane University School of Medicine’s Nephrology & Hypertension, Milne was an established member of the electronic music community in New Orleans. He helped to create and promote some of the city’s major recent electronic music events, including last year’s inaugural Buku Music and Art Project and the popular BASSIK night at the Republic. Winter Circle Productions has been influential in bringing some of the country’s biggest alternative music acts to New Orleans including Lykke Li, Das Racist and Cut Copy and and won OffBeat‘s Best of the Beat award for Best Music Promoter this year.
