Aaron Neville is riding high these days, having just released his new Eric Krasno-produced album, Apache, to wide critical acclaim. Yet the New Orleans icon isn’t finished putting out new music this year, by which I mean he isn’t finished putting out old music.
A video posted to Neville’s Facebook page over the weekend finds him hanging out with his cats, Turks and Caicos, while singing an unrecorded tune he penned back in “in the #goodoldays.” As the video’s description notes, the song was written by Neville and his friend/fellow musician Larry Williams in 1963.
Neville opens the brief number with the line, “way back / in the beginning of time / god took a rib / and made a woman so fine.” Unsurprisingly, the rest of the song is also about women. Give it a listen below.
