Aaron Neville has released a second track from his forthcoming album, Apache. Titled “I Wanna Love You,” the song finds Neville’s ageless vocals accompanied by sparse guitar riffs and subtle organ work.
“I Wanna Love You,” along with the rest of Apache, was produced by Lettuce/Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno. The track premiered on NPR earlier this week.
Apache marks Neville’s first record since 2013’s My True Story, a collection of doo-wop covers that was produced by Don Was and Keith Richards. The 11-track album is slated for release on July 11.
Neville will play a few shows in support of his new release this summer, with a special 75th birthday concert scheduled for August 4 at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater. The event will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Neville’s breakthrough hit, “Tell It Like It Is.” A full list of his upcoming tour dates is available on his website.
