R&B icon Aaron Neville is the latest artist to join the lineup for Louisiana Rising, a flood relief concert that will be broadcast live on Labor Day, September 5.
“I’m happy to be able to aid Louisiana, my home state,” said Neville, who appears in the latest issue of OffBeat magazine. “The people there are in my prayers- that they can find their way back. God bless.”
Neville has been added to a bill that already includes Hunter Hayes, Better Than Ezra, Rebirth Brass Band, Sonny Landreth, Dwayne Dopsie, Chris Thomas King, and many more.
Louisiana Rising will be hosted by Louisiana natives Randy Jackson and Harry Connick Jr. The show will take place at Baton Rouge’s River Center Theater, and proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross’ Louisiana flood relief efforts.
The concert will be broadcast live across all Raycom Media television stations, as well as other stations that have joined the cause. It will be carried nationally by Bounce TV, and throughout the world via a web-based livestream. More information on how to watch the show can be found here.
Louisiana Rising is one of many benefit concerts that have been planned in response to the widespread flooding that killed 13 people and damaged an estimated 154,000 homes in Louisiana last month (other include Red Stick Revival and From NOLA with Love). The American Red Cross has declared it the country’s worst disaster since Superstorm Sandy devastated parts of the Northeast in 2012.
