A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Story Comes to Saenger Theatre

The Saenger Theatre and Broadway in New Orleans have announced the premiere of the highly anticipated musical, A Wonderful World. The show, which explores the life and loves of Louis Armstrong. Armstrong’s birthday is celebrated annually in New Orleans at Satchmo SummerFest. The musical will be showcased at the Saenger Theatre from October 1 to October 8. Tickets for the production will go on sale this Friday, July 21, at 10 a.m.

A Wonderful World highlights the birth of jazz in New Orleans and Armstrong’s rise to international stardom. The musical portrays the story from the perspective of the women who played essential roles in his life and will feature popular songs recorded by Armstrong.

Ticket prices for the performance start at $34. Individual tickets can be purchased at the Saenger Theatre box office at noon. Tickets can also be purchased online at the Saenger Theatre’s official website.

A Wonderful World is produced by Thomas E. Rodgers, Jr., Renee Rodgers, Andrew Delaplaine, Vanessa Williams, Liz Curtis, and Martian Entertainment. The show stars Tony Award-winning James Monroe Iglehart in the role of Louis Armstrong. Other cast members include Ta’Rea Campbell, Jennie Harney-Fleming, Brennyn Lark, and Khalifa White, who bring to life the women who influenced Armstrong.

Following its premiere in New Orleans, A Wonderful World will move to the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago, IL, where it will run from October 11 to October 29.
