This weekend, the Tremé Art and Music Lounge will make its debut with performances from the Grammy-nominated Hot 8 Brass Band.
With a focus on highlighting not only local musicians but also artists, the new venue will host live performances as well as works of art for sale. According to operators, the Tremé Art and Music Lounge aims to be a place where members of the local neighborhood and those visiting the city can congregate with one another in an effort to support and preserve the historic culture of the Tremé.
There will be an “artist of the month” whose work will be displayed prominently in the venue, which is located at 1623 St. Ann Street, just a couple of blocks from Louis Armstrong Park. The Lounge will be open from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday-Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sundays (which makes it a great place to watch Saints football!).
