A horror film festival created by horror filmmakers for horror fans is returning to New Orleans for its seventh year. From September 21-24, the Castillo Blanco Art Studio will house a series of film screenings, parties, and an award ceremony all in the name of the spooky, scary, and sinister – all organized by the New Orleans Horror Film Festival.
The days-long affair kicks off with the opening party, at which guests will be treated to screenings of two locally shot and produced horror shorts as well as the premiere screening of Welcome to Willits, a scary movie that takes place in the woods of Northern California. All of the films screened at the Fest are selected by a panel of international film critics and professionals, but Louisiana will be the star of the show. According to organizers of the horror film fest, their goal is “the development of and outreach to the local horror arts community and the promotion and support of Louisiana-produced short and feature length films.”
The NOHFF is open to the public and tickets will be available in advance later this month via the official festival website or day-of at the door. Single screening tickets are $10 ($8 in advance), while day passes will range from $20-$40. Weekend passes will be available for $75, unless you’d like to upgrade to $150 VIP passes.
For the late-night crowd, NOHFF has added to this year’s jaunt an after-hours screening on Sunday, September 24 at Rare Form (437 Esplanade Avenue), beginning at 1:00am.
