The deadline for entering recordings into the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards is Tuesday, August 31. “I just want to see as many local records get entered into the GRAMMYs as possible,” says Reid Wick, senior project manager of the Academy’s Memphis Chapter, which includes Louisiana and other surrounding states. Wick, a local musician himself, also wants to encourage as many people as possible to become voting members, “so we can continue our level of GRAMMY nominations and wins for Louisiana artists.”
Recordings that were released between September 1, 2009, and September 30, 2010 are eligible for entry. Active members can enter recordings, but participants must have joined or renewed their memberships on or before June 30, 2010. Musicians who aren’t members can still have their records entered by another member and should contact Reid Wick before the deadline.
Record labels can also submit recordings after registering as Media Companies on the Grammy’s Web site. Once registered, media companies will receive materials from the Record Label Liaison along with instructions on how to make entries. This process also ends on August 31.
Registration and submission can be done at the Grammy.com Web site. Those with any questions or comments can contact [email protected], or call the Online Entry Hotline at (310) 392-0439.
Those who wish vote in the first round of the Grammy Awards must have current memberships by Oct. 1, 2010. Voters and participants can join or renew online at www.Grammy365.com. Questions about membership should be directed to Reid Wick at (504)861-7219 or [email protected].
