Vegan 2 the Soul, a local vegan food festival, is returning after its successful first year. On Sunday, July 21, a variety of vegan vendors will gather at Lemann Park. One of the best parts–access to the festival is free.
Join the Vegan 2 the Soul team, Floyd “The Music Man,” Pete “The Coordinator Guy,” Rob, a.k.a “Mister Ligistics” and Riva, “Madam Whatca Need,” in their mission to increase urban agriculture, fitness education and access to healthy food options. The organization uses proceeds from the festival to fund their health and wellness initiative, which focuses on fitness classes and health education.
Various vegan food vendors have signed up for the festival, including the Caribbean and South American spiced fruit vendor, Zippy Fruit; the Brazilian vegan fusion vendor, Crazy Jack Vegan; and the tropical vegan fusion cafe, Carmo. Other vendors include Vegan Wit-A Twist, Smokey Vedge, Trilly Cheesesteaks, Sac Ladies Creole Kitchen, Vmode by Chef Alex and Valerie’s Snoballs, along with local crafts vendors, such as Mykahdotangela, Fleur de Leach, Whole Village Art Therapy, Righteous Headz & Reggae Shop and others.
The festival will also feature music and cooking demonstrations, focusing on vegan dishes. Free yoga and fitness starts at 10 a.m. Food vendors, crafts and music all start at 11 a.m. During the festival, guests are invited to the Vegan Strength Panel, hosted by the athletes and coaches Emily McWilliams, Scott Green and Jamie Schmill, to discuss sports nutrition and training, at 2 p.m. DJ Jess and Xeno Moonflower are two musicians featured on the festival’s lineup.
Lemann Park is located at 628 N. Claiborne Ave. More information is available on the festival’s website, or through their social media pages, on Facebook and Instagram.
