The New Orleans Ballet Association has announced details of its 2019-2020 season, which will bring four renowned and acclaimed dance companies to the Mahalia Jackson Theater.
NOBA’s upcoming season spotlights Irish dance, shadow dance theater, an American ballet powerhouse, a “global comedic ballet sensation” and the 50th anniversary celebration of the company itself.
Highlights of the upcoming season include:
Trinity Irish Dance Company — Saturday, October 19, 8 p.m.
Pilobolus in Shadowland-The New Adventure — Friday, November 22, 8 p.m.
50th Anniversary Evening of Stars — Saturday, January 25 (time TBD)
Houston Ballet — Saturday, March 28, 8 p.m. at the Mahalia Jackson Theater
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo — Saturday, April 18, 8 p.m. at the Mahalia Jackson Theater
October 19’s event will mark the Trinity Irish Dance Company’s first visit to New Orleans since 2002 and the company will premiere its brand new show here. November’s Pilobolus is named after a sun-loving fungus and is celebrate for “breathtaking physicality that defies what is humanly possible.” Like NOBA, the Houston Ballet is celebrating its golden anniversary and will put on its first show in New Orleans in over a decade when it arrives in March. April’s season finale is dubbed “the funniest night you will ever have at the ballet.”
