This Friday, February 1, Darcy Malone & The Tangle will put on a career milestone of a performance.
The Best of the Beat Award-nominated rock band will headline the historic Tipitina’s for its first time. “We all have a connection with Tipitinas,” says DM&TT guitarist Rory Callais. My first gig ever was a homegrown night, and Darcy practically grew up here. This band has played some of its best shows at Tipitina’s , and we wouldn’t think of a better place to introduce this new lineup.”
That new lineup features drummer Terry Scott, Jr. “We couldn’t be more excited about Terry Scott Jr. joining the band. He’s bringing a fresh set of ears to our songs and unlocking grooves we never knew were there. He’s truly breathing new life into old songs, and we can’t wait to start writing new material with him,” the band tells us.
For Darcy, Friday’s gig carries with it some very personal significance. As she explains, “Tipitina’s is like a second home to me. I’ve been going there since I was child watching my Dad [Dave Malone] play that incredible stage. I feel at home when I am on it. There is a soul and energy in Tipitina’s like no other. And to finally make it to the point that we are able to headline??? Well that is like a dream come true for me. I don’t have enough words to describe how special it is for me and the band. And I am so excited for Terry that his first show with us gets to be in this incredible venue.”
Opening for Darcy Malone & The Tangle is Noisewater. Tickets for the 18+ show are available here.
