In an exciting effort to bring attention to local talent, Foundation Room at The House of Blues is hosting Songwriters Sessions twice a month.
Similar to Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, the Foundation Room’s iteration focuses on two-round sessions, each 45 minutes in length and featuring three to four New Orleans-based songwriters. This series is the brainchild of Jim McCormick, a songwriter who boasts two #1 hits on the Billboard country charts, and Abby Jones, Director of Foundation Room and Music Hall at House of Blues New Orleans.
Both founders hope that Songwriters Sessions will serve not only as a way for guests to experience music in a more intimate setting, but also a way to cultivate the songwriter community in the city. “Songwriters aren’t in the spotlight in New Orleans,” says McCormick. “Abby Jones has the same passion for songs and songwriters as I do, making her great to work with.” Jones continues, “Our goal is to help strengthen the community of New Orleans songwriters, foster relationships that could lead to creative endeavors, encourage industry networking and give an opportunity for the city’s talented songwriters to showcase their work and talent.”
