The Shreveport-bred Kenny Wayne Shepherd will make his way back to his home state of Louisiana on September 29 when his namesake band performs at the Orpheum Theater.
The five-time Grammy nominated blues rock band of which Kenny Wayne Shepherd is the guitarist recently released its album Lay It On Down. The album, recorded in Shreveport and produced by Marshall Altman, debuted in the number-one spot on the Top Blues and Current Rock Albums chart.
“I wanted to make an album of great American roots music … an album full of music that people haven’t heard from us before. I’m pulling from a lot of different periods and genres on this one,” Shepherd said in a statement.
The band also includes lead singer Noah Hunt, drummer Chris Layton and piano player Joe Krown.
