The 2025 celebration known as “Super Sunday” is happening this weekend on Sunday, March 16, Mardi Gras Indian gangs from throughout New Orleans’ Indian Nation—Uptown, Downtown and across the river—gather to form a procession of feathers and finery as they take to the Uptown streets. They are joined by brass bands and social aid and pleasure clubs.
The parade begins at the corner of Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street in Central City, and heads down LaSalle and then turns left on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It proceeds on MLK and turns left on S. Claiborne Avenue and then turns left on Washington Avenue and returns to A.L. Davis Park.
Beginning at 11 a.m., there will be musical entertainment from a host of favorite DJs such as Captain Charles and DJ Jubilee as well as groups including the BRW Band. Naturally, there will be plenty of food booths around the site.
Leading up to Super Sunday, the Council presents a “Kick-Off” show at the Dew Drop Inn, 2836 LaSalle Street, on Friday, March 14, 2025 that begins at 7 p.m. and boasts free admission.
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, the “No Hum Bow” celebration continues at Tipitina‘s, 501 Napoleon Ave. It will feature Big Chiefs Estabon “Pepe” Eugene, Juan Pardo and Romeo Bougere. Showtime is 7 p.m. and admission (for those 18) is free.
