The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus returns for its eighth annual Mardi Gras parade on February 3rd, 2018 and the vast nerd horde today announced the theme for next year’s high holiday. The 2018 Intergalactic Krewe Of Chewbacchus theme is…”Get on Board the Mothership.”

Approximately 2,000 marching members will once again take to the streets to celebrate its love for the Sacred Drunken Wookiee with the space-travel theme. In celebration, the Krewe will create a full-blown Chewbacchus mothership featuring reclaimed bits of pieces of retired parade floats and machinery. Of course, the ship will be flanked by a fleet of bicycles, keg carts and art cars but the main focus will be what the Krewe is calling a “DIY version of Voltron built out of an old passenger van combined with the Millennium Falcon and the salvaged pieces of an ice-cream cart.” The interior of the mothership will host a shrine to the Krewe’s namesake, naturally.

There are some details surrounding a slightly modified parade route, expected to be announced soon. Last year’s theme was the “Revel Alliance” and starred Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Aaron on The Walking Dead, as king.
