On Saturday, 1239 Congress will host its second photography opening. Local artists Christian Hardy, Durado Brooks, Michelle Nicolette Kowalski, Andy Cook, Nick Gomez and Jordan Cabot will have their work all over the Bywater house—literally. 1239 Congress incorporates many surfaces as gallery space, such as chimneys and floors.

The non-profit arts organization, founded by friends with backgrounds in working with non-profits rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina, rebuilt a blighted house and use it today as a multi-functional art space. Last week, over 200 people showed up for 1239’s photography opening on Friday, February 3. This week’s show has another new artist and the house has a new paint job by Skin Horse Theater.

The opening will be from 6 – 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, at 1239 Congress St. Admission is free. CASUAL BABY and Erin Demastes will perform.
