From March 8th to 10th, the New Orleans Jazz Museum takes center stage with two live music stages presenting 30 of the Crescent City’s finest ensembles. Attendees can enjoy a unique combination of interviews and performances with exceptional banjoists and guitarists on March 8th, hosted by award-winning radio producer Fred Kasten. The following days, March 9th and 10th, feature insightful interviews curated by WWOZ Trad Jazz programmer Sally Young, exploring the life, legacy, and music of Danny Barker.
The festival’s mission is to honor NEA Jazz Master Danny Barker, showcasing his contributions as a musician, singer, songwriter, and educator. Barker’s influence on the New Orleans jazz scene is immeasurable, and the festival serves as a platform to pass on his legacy to future generations. Workshops, master classes, and clinics provide area students with immersive instruction, fostering an understanding of the origins and evolution of New Orleans jazz.
