A yoga soundtrack is a very specialized thing, but that’s what Devaloka is. And as far as I—a non-yoga person—can tell, it’s a good one. It drones in the hypnotic way you’d expect, but Johnson or someone in the Wild Lotus Band has some rock or pop in their backgrounds as rock textures and hooks show up to give the pieces shape. “Calling Ganesha” even includes a familiar sound as it quotes a moment from Dr. John’s “Walk on Gilded Splinters.” Devoloka isn’t an every day thing—unless you do yoga every day—but it’s more immediate and satisfying than its use would suggest.
