OHD, mine. (Independent)

OHD album cover for mine.OHD, a.k.a. Owen H. Dunne, gives a fresh burst style and personality with his debut album and Pride Month offering. Released on June 18, mine. is a 10-track exploration of energy, attitude, emotion, and identity that comes with learning new love and affirming self. Sonically, it is a contemporary love child of Afro-house, queer ballroom, indie pop, and R&B vibes—all from a New Orleans perspective.

Transformations that teach us who we are tend to hit the hardest. New love is quite the catalyst for learning, especially in 2021. This album is an honest soundtrack for owning your voice, loving who you are, and pursuing what you prefer.

OHD’s voice brings texture to the songwriting, showing his vocal range on tracks like “Alonely,” and his rapping abilities on tracks like “God Damn.” His vocals favor the likes of Childish Gambino and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, with a dash of Sam Smith. On introspective songs like “Hurts Too Much” and “Escape These Feelings,” however, he makes sure that his one-of-a-kind voice speaks for itself.

mine. has tracks for reflection, the pregame and party, feeling yourself, and finding yourself. The confidence and unapologetic mood on “Voodo (Nile Ashton Remix)” make it a shoo-in for two a.m. dance floor spins, and “Love Me Like” is the perfect pop singalong for any hour. “Alonely” is an upbeat plea for closure, while “Get Back” is for standing your ground and getting back to what is important.

For all the lovers out there, queer or otherwise, this album has a relatable song (or five) that will get you to know yourself, love yourself, or at least dance your night away.
