Following Sony/Legacy’s other recently issued Complete Sessions box sets (In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew) this new five-disc collection cements Miles Davis’ original album’s place among the jewels of progressive-jazz-jam-rock fusion.
As the title suggests, The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions documents Davis’ original 1970 sessions in their virtual entirety. There are one or two missing takes, but nothing absolutely essential. The box delivers six hours of amazing never-before released material. As with the previously released boxes in this vein just about everything recorded is now transferred to disc. The beautiful packaging, extensive liner notes, session info and previously unseen photos included make this collection a must have. Could The Complete On The Corner Sessions be next up in this series?
