Rising Baton Rouge-bred hip-hop artist Lango is back with a bang, releasing his new single “Walk on Water” after a brief hiatus. The track is the first from his upcoming album JoyBoy, a record about freedom of expression, and has the potential to be a summer anthem this year.
“Walk on Water” is a symphony of strings, keys, synthetic textures, hard-hitting 808s, and percussion that is only fully appreciated live in an arena. Lango’s hypnotic refrain, “Go get some money,” is mesmerizing and head-banging, making this single an instant hit. Lango recorded, mixed and mastered the single, showcasing his remarkable musical talent.
In addition to the single, Lango also released a high-contrast black-and-white music video. The video features a “3-headed beast” with a triple split-screen of three versions of Lango rapping the lyrics in one take. The video is simple yet high-energy, filmed in an all-white void with Lango’s jewelry gleaming. Lango’s younger brother Lyle Adams shot and directed the music video.
After moving from Baton Rouge to Atlanta, Lango has built a reputation nationwide as one of the most entertaining up-and-coming artists today. With “Walk on Water” setting the bar high, fans eagerly await the release of Lango’s upcoming album and his next big show.
